Refugee Assistance RCA RMA

The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) has slashed the eligibility period for Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) and Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA) from 12 months to just 4 months. This budgetary decision aims to manage the high volume of arrivals by diluting individual support, forcing refugees into accelerated economic integration without the necessary medical support to treat trauma or pre-existing conditions.

"Critical Impact: A refugee who previously had 12 months to stabilize, find employment, and access medical treatment now has only 4 months. This is insufficient to treat PTSD, complete job training, or learn functional English."
